EVS Volunteer in Greece
The 5th of Oktober 2010 i i went as a volunteer to Serres in northern Greece it is about 1 and a half hour north east from Thessaloniki i stayd there until the 5th of may.
I am going to tell some of my time there, not everything today tho.
I start at when i was going from home i had a four houre car trip to the air port and ofcorse 3-4 four minutes after leaving home i was back at the house again since i had forgot to bling the camera.
My parent drove me to Arlanda Airport in Stockholm and then went on a plane to Vienna, in Vienna i had to whait i copple of hours so i spent the time in a bar on the airport i still remember that the beer costed 3 euro and 40 cent.
And then it was on a plain again this time from Vienna to Thessaloniki, at the Thessaloniki airport i was greeted by a volunteer that had already been volunteer in Serres for one month if i remember corectly, we took a bus from the airport to the buss station and from there a buss to Serres the trip from the airport took about 2,5 hours.
Then i arive in the town of Serres that was going to be my home for the coming seven months, the diference beutween Sweden and Greece are huge already when you compere the buildings, almost all building in Greece look pritty much the same as long as its not a government building or a church. Everything is in concrete and no colours, whiles in Sweden we have alot of buildings of wood with alot of diferent colours.
One more thing struck me, that thay have almost no forest at all, in Sweden im used to see forest were ever i am, even wery close to the bigger cities. Instead Greece was a very rocky country, but i dont complain on the temperatures, in Sweden im used to have maby - 20 -25 celsius but the coldest i experienced in greece was about + 1 +4 something.
I have alot more to tell about greece, how it was in Thessaloniki and in Athens for example.
The seminares in Athens was amongst the most fun things i have ever done in my entire life.
So keep a sharp eye on this blog so you dont miss the rest of my journey in Greece.
